SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico baseball team finished out a weekend series at St. Mary’s with a 9-5 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Rattlers gained a 5-0 lead after six innings before the Greyhounds got on the board in the top of the seventh. Eastern saw three runs on three hits and an error, highlighted by doubles from Kian Johnston and Trevor Moses.

ENMU saw a flurry of six runs cross the plate in the top of the ninth inning. Jack Thompson had an RBI double while Rio Granger and Moses each sent home runners on singles.

The Hounds held off St. Mary’s in the bottom of the frame to secure the 9-5 win.

Offensively, Moses led the way as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Granger was 3-for-5, while Camden Matthews, Johnston, and Thompson were all 2-for-5.

Dalton Thatcher got the start on the mound. He had three strikeouts in 5.1 innings. Damian Acosta finished out the contest and earned the win with five strikeouts, two hits, and one run allowed in 3.2 innings of work.

Eastern is back in action in action for a three-game series at Lubbock Christian April 9-10. The first game of the series is set for a 5 p.m. start on Friday.
