PORTALES, NM — After a late goal by freshman Shelby Bell lifted the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team to a 3-2 win at Southern Nazarene, the Greyhounds return home to open Lone Star Conference play. Aside for a pair of ties, every game has been decided by just one goal this season.
On Friday evening at 7 p.m., the Greyhounds will host by Texas A&M-Commerce. On Sunday, ENMU will visit Texas Woman’s at 1 p.m.

After a three-game road trip, the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team will play six of their next eight within the friendly confines of Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium. This week’s two-game home stand will include the first two Lone Star Conference matches of the season.
Spence is in his first season with Eastern.

Texas A&M-Commerce is 3-0-2 on the season and coming off ties at sixth-ranked St. Edwards and Harding. The Lions have allowed just 0.40 goals per game and are paced by three goals from Sophie Haywood.
The Greyhounds are looking for their first win against perennial LSC-powerhouse Texas A&M-Commerce.
The teams have met eight times in Portales, but just once on Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium. In last season’s home game, Marissa Torres made eight saves for the Greyhounds.

The Pioneers are 3-2-1 headed into Friday’s match at West Texas A&M. TWU dropped a heartbreaker on Monday at Oklahoma Baptist on a goal with just 1:01 left in regulation.
The Greyhounds are 6-12-1 against Texas Woman’s with a 3-5-1 mark at home. The teams have met only once on Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium.
Last season, the teams split a pair of games, with the Hounds winning a contest which was moved from Denton, Texas to Commerce, due to weather conditions. Marissa Torres made eight saves in that game to post a shutout. Tori Hendrickson netted the game-winner midway through the opening half on a penalty kick and Mirka Zamarripa added an insurance goal in the second half.
