CANYON, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico men’s and women’s track & field programs competed at the West Texas A&M Jo Meaker Classic & Multi this weekend.

Mercy Rotich led the way for the Greyhounds with a first-place finish in the women’s 5000-meter run with a time of 19:15.12.

Jessica Campbell had a second-place finish in the heptathlon with an overall score of 4657. She was first in the javelin (124-2.0, 37.85m) and tied for first in the high jump (5-3.25, 1.61m) portions. Her score broke her own previous program record from the 2019 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championship.

In the women’s 800-meter run, Malethabo Seema earned eighth place with a time of 2:17.68.

The women’s 4×400 relay team of Neri GetraideCaroline BachmanLethabo Seema, and M. Seema finished in 4:05.65 which was good for fourth place.

Tamia Smith was eight in the shot put (42-2.0, 12.85m) and 13th in the discus (110-5.0, 33.66m). The shot-put distance was a new program record.

In the men’s 5000-meter run, Kelvin Kipkemboi finished fourth with a time of 15:31.53.

Toby Kirk clocked a time of 11:09.01 in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase which was good for fifth place.

The Greyhounds are back in action on April 10 at the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open.
