The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team takes on Lone Star Conference foe, Angelo State, this weekend in a non-conference matchup with the fourth-ranked team in the nation. The Greyhounds head into the weekend as the winners of eight-straight en-route to a program-record 14-1 start. First pitch against the Rams is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. for Saturday’s double header and 2 p.m. for the rubber match on Sunday.

The Greyhounds boast the nation’s most prolific offense, scoring 12.9 runs/game while the team is hitting at a .369 clip, the second-highest in the LSC. Michael McNicholl is second in the league with a .545 average while the outfielder leads the conference in doubles and RBI. Infielder Alex DeLaCruz leads the LSC with four dingers and is hitting above .500 through the first 15 games of the season.

On the rubber, Austin Paisar holds a sub-1.00 ERA with a 1-0 record over three starts. Scott Klein (4-0, 1.56 ERA) and Keenan Dodd (3-0, 2.25 ERA) have each had strong starts to the season. Nick DeArmond has been the top reliever out of the bullpen for the Green and Silver, holding hitters to a .056 average over 10.1 innings.

Scouting Angelo State
The Rams enter the weekend with a 9-1 record and are coming off a 39-22 campaign last season. Jacob Boston has been the Rams’ top hitters, hitting .400 with four home runs and 16 RBI. Kenton Schroter leads ASU with a 3-0 record and a 4.02 ERA.
