KINGSVILLE, TEXAS — Cameron Conrad, Kamalani Peneku, Precious Aguirre, and Tiana Faagalulu each drew a walk in Thursday afternoon’s Lone Star Conference series opener for the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (18-31; LSC 10-15). Texas A&M-Kingsville (20-21; LSC 9-11) seized the lead in the first inning, and pulled away for an 8-0 win over the Greyhounds at Hubert Field.

The Javelinas capitalized on a leadoff walk to Rachel Longoria in the top of the first inning. After a sacrifice bunt, Longoria scored on a one-out fielding error to give Texas A&M-Kingsville a lead it would not relinquish. The Javelinas added seven runs over their next three at bats, and the game ended after the top of the fifth, due to the eight-run lead.
Kaylee Rogers and Katie Ripple each tossed two innings for the Hounds. Carlie Clark went the distance for Texas A&M-Kingsville. Randa Hatter batted two-for-three with a homerun for the Javelinas.
The Eastern New Mexico University softball team will conclude its series at Texas A&M-Kingsville with a Friday doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. MST.
