PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks over University of the Southwest in Saturday afternoon’s exhibition opener at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium. The Mustangs managed to net the contests’ only goal 13:24 into the first half, and held on for the win.
Eastern had four shots on goal and had a strong offensive flurry early in the first half, which generated shots on goal from Mitchell Meisinger and Ben Brewer at the 8:17 mark.
The Greyhounds will open the regular season on Thursday, August 31, at Adams State. The game is set to start at 3 p.m. MT.
