Wednesday, September 6, 2017 PORTALES, NM -After earning a tie against Southern Nazarene last Saturday, the Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team (0-1-1) will head back to Colorado this week. The Greyhounds will visit Colorado Springs for a pair of games. The trip will open against host UC-Colorado Springs on Thursday, September 7, at 7 p.m. A late afternoon (4 p.m.) contest against Dixie State will be played on Saturday. Both contests will be played at Mountain Lion Stadium. How to Follow the games About the Greyhounds After a setback at Adams State followed by the tie at SNU, Eastern heads to Colorado looking for its first victory of the season. Mitchell Meisinger tallied the Hounds’ first goal of the season on Saturday, on a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Yuri Nascimiento has played all 200 minutes for Eastern this season. So far he has a 0.9 goals against average and an .867 save percentage. Head Coach Paul Tate is in his third season and with a 13-17-7 record is just three wins away from catching Carlos Elizondo for the program record for victories. About UC-Colorado Springs The Mountain Lions are looking for their first win of the season after setbacks to Texas A&M-International and Midwestern State. Goalkeeper David Meyer has a 1.50 goals-against average and a .786 save percentage The Greyhounds are 4-1 against UCCS and have won four straight meetings. Thursday will mark the third time the teams have met in Colorado Springs, where each team has taken one game. Two seasons ago, ENMU claimed a 3-2 win in Taos, when Ryan McManus and Carlos Viveros both scored in the final five minutes. About Dixie State After an overtime win over MSU Billings, the Trailblazers are currently 2-0 on the season. Gustavo Ortega is the squad’s top scorer with two goals.
