PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico University basketball teams will hit the road this week for a two-game Lone Star Conference road trip. Both teams are in contention for spots in the league tournament and will look to improve their position.
On Thursday, the Hounds will visit West Texas A&M. the women’s game will tip off at 4:30 p.m. MT, and the men’s contest will follow at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the teams will travel to UT Permian Basin. The women’s game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, while the men’s game is at 3 p.m.

KSEL 1450 AM will broadcast the women’s game on Thursday, while KSEL 105.9 FM will offer the men’s game at WT and both games on Saturday afternoon.
About the Women’s Game
The ENMU women’s basketball team has won four of its last six games, and nearly pulled even with Angelo State on Saturday after trailing by 26 points. Last Thursday, ENMU improved to 2-1in overtime games this season, with a 67-61 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Last season, the Hounds overcame a 12-point deficit to post their first road win over the Lady Buffs since the 1981 season. The win over then eighth-ranked WT was Eastern’s second road win in the series. The Greyhounds shot 11-for-21 from three-point range and received a 20-point effort from Daeshi McCants.
Eastern is 3-2 against UT Permian Basin with a 1-0 road record. Earlier this season, the Falcons snapped ENMU’s three-game win streak in the series with a 68-63 decision at Greyhound Arena. The Hounds were led by 13 points from Brandi Gomez and attempted to rally from an 18-point deficit.
About the Men’s Game
The Greyhound men’s basketball team split with West Texas A&M last season. Eastern will head to Canyon, Texas this week seeking its first road win in the series since a 58-57 decision on February 1, 2014. Cornelius Cammock’s layup with one second left gave ENMU the win. Last season, Lamarquis Thompson’s 18-points paced six Greyhounds in double figures as ENMU earned a 96-83 win at home over the Buffaloes.
Eastern is 1-4 against University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a 1-1 road record. On December 13, 2014, the Hounds rallied from a 14-point deficit behind 29 points from Chris Wyms and 20 points from Michael Randle for a 102-99 victory.
