Eastern New Mexico University Athletics has long been known for involvement in the local community. Greyhound baseball follows in that tradition and welcomed a pair of area children’s homes for a day of fun at the field.
Last Monday, the Baptist Children’s Home and Floyd Children’s Home were welcomed by Head Coach David Gomez, his staff, and the Greyhound baseball team. The players treated the kids to a fun day at Greyhound Baseball Field, which likely was enjoyed just as much by the players.
“Our program was happy to be a change of pace for these wonderful kids,” said Gomez. “I think my guys had just as much fun as all the kids did. We also look forward to having everyone back at our place for senior weekend. During the national anthem, the kids will stand with the team.”
Eastern’s final home series will open on Friday night at 7 p.m. MT, against UT Permian Basin. The kids from the Children’s homes will join the Hounds prior to Sunday’s season finale at 1 p.m.
