Meet Kathy Maddux: CDC Master Teacher Talks about Helping Children
Kathy Maddux, the master teacher at the ENMU CDC, wants to be a positive influence on the lives of the children she teaches.
“I want them to be excited to come to school and to know that they can feel safe and secure when they are with me at the CDC,” she explained.
MBA Secretary from Guam Continues Her Education at ENMU
Jade Tallon is pursuing a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in secondary education.
“Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive,” said the new MBA secretary. “I am learning something new every day.”
Winter Break
Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will close for winter break at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22 and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan.2 with its normal schedule.
- The Golden Library will be closed during the break. There will be phone support from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for the actual holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year ‘s Day).
- The UCC labs will be open when staff are on campus Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be phone support during Winter Session on Saturdays, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Dec.19-Jan. 13.
The ENMU campus will be closed the weekend of graduation (Dec. 16-17) and also closed Sundays between the fall and spring semester.

Scholarship Deadline Moved to Feb. 15
The deadline to apply for ENMU Foundation scholarships has been moved to Feb. 15. March 1 has been the deadline for many years, so please mark your calendars and don’t miss out on applying for scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year by Feb. 15.
Scholarships and scholarship applications will be posted by Jan. 2, 2018, for your review here.
Before submitting your applications, please make sure your 2017 fall semester grades have been posted on your transcripts.
Remember: Apply for ENMU Foundation scholarships on or before Feb. 15, 2018.
