PORTALES, NM – May 3, 2022 – Greek fraternities and sororities on the Eastern New Mexico University teamed up to collect 6,034 pounds of food for the Roosevelt County Community Services Center (CSC) food pantry as part of ENMU-Portales’ annual Greek Week activities April 25–29.
“Greek organizations have supported the CSC food bank in the past, but this is the first year to tie it into Greek Week competitions and festivities,” said ENMU Director of Campus Life Rey Coss. In the first year of the food drive during Greek Week, the Kappa Sigma chapter led the way with 2,299 pounds of food, while Sigma Alpha Epsilon brought in 1,622 pounds. Sorority Zeta Tau Alpha collected 1,227 pounds, while Chi Omega contributed 886.
All food will be donated to the Portales Community Services Center Food Pantry, helping to address senior hunger and food pantry assistance for those in need in Roosevelt County.
