“God spoke to me”….. Many years ago, as an impressionable kid, my memory hung up on a movie line and the incredulous look on the supporting actors face; one conveying the “You are crazy” look, when the main actor said those words. It left me many years at the place of believing that everyone would really think I was crazy, if I ever said those words out loud, to anyone.
I was raised in “church” and never had a Sunday School lesson about actually hearing God speak to me, they were just filled with all of the things I should and should not be doing so that I would be considered a “good little girl”, and someday go to Heaven. Thankfully as life moved on and my sense that there had to be more than this from a God who splits seas and defeats Pharaohs; I met and became friends with folks that actually did say those words out loud. I began to regularly hear, “God told me this morning…..” Wow I had finally found what I had suspected existed but sadly took 30+ years to find a community of people who are seeking God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit with a tenacity I had not seen in ALL of the many church buildings that life brought me to over the years of my childhood and early adulthood.
So why share all of this and whats the point? Glad you asked. We have here in Portales a vibrant community of people that love Jesus, and actually seek to know Him and HEAR from Him on a daily basis.
If you want a connection with the God of the universe there is a place where that is happening several days of the week. If you aren’t hearing the Lord like you want to, you can come and practice with the rest of us on Monday evenings. We meet at 7pm at the Sozo House of Prayer (next door to Daylight Donuts) and just practice getting quiet and seek to know our God better.
It is said that when we exercise our senses we will be able to discern both good and evil. Today more than ever we must be able to know what is good and what is not. If you are hungry for more, come join us on the greatest adventure you could ever embark upon.
