In Roosevelt County we went from Trick or Treat to Turkey Dinner over night. The great part of this transition was how much fun it was thanks to many great businesses and volunteer workers that made it happen for us.
The United Methodist Church has a “motto” for Thanksgiving dinner, “Many hands make light work” and it sure works for them. From the outside looking in, it is a wonderful oiled machine that turns out a warm and yummy Thanksgiving dinner year after year. This year was no exception, the food was wonderful however the best part is the visiting. The iced tea and the conversations are flowing.
Shelly Atwood checked it with us to say, ” It is by faith that we can feed 2008 people. When you think about it, that is 20% ofPortales. It is amazing how the community supports the Turkey Dinner at FUMC. I think it is an event the community looks forward to every year just like the Fair and Holiday Happenings. It was another successful Turkey Dinner for the books! The 2018 Turkey Dinner team knocked it out. Serving 2008 dinners and watching the joy on everyone’s face as they fellowship throughout the day is always an amazing joyful experience. Shout out to all the volunteers! It takes an army to make our annual Turkey Dinner. ENMU Softball Girls are so amazing! We are so blessed by their presence and dedication each year. PRAISE THE LORD for bringing such a great group of volunteers together to serve up a bounty of turkey, dressing and all the fixings. The best part is we get to visit with so many folks in our community that we don’t get to see any other time. Thank you to all who came out for the festivities and God Bless! ”
THANK YOU to all the volunteers that made this Turkey dinner for us.
