Obituary
A graveside service for Frances Kay Nuckols, 82, of Elida, will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 14, 2023, in the Elida Cemetery with Jeff Bilberry officiating, assisted by Trent Bilberry and Rev. Cheston Fair. Dan Howard, Jeff Bilberry, David Taylor, Wayne Moore, Chris Gresham, Chuck Strain, Trent Bilberry, Jimmy Dale Ward, Nancy Ward, Durward Dixon, Lonnie Jones, Richard Hadley and Alan Self along with all of his other friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Frances Kay (Lee) Nuckols was born on December 17, 1940, in Muleshoe, Texas to the home of Anna Faye (Standefer) and Joel Winfred Lee, Jr. and died on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in Elida. She married James “Jim Bob” Nuckols on June 3, 1961, in Clovis. She gave birth to Joel Dillard Nuckols on June 20, 1962.
Kay attended schools at Circle Y, Clovis Elementary and Ft. Sumner. She attended New Mexico State University for one semester and then received her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1973. She then received her Master’s Degree in 1978. Kay worked as a school teacher for 29 years from 1974 to 2003. She enjoyed ranching with dad and loved her horses and cattle and considered it her heaven on earth.
Kay is survived by her son, Joel Nuckols & wife Traci of Elida; her grandson, Joel Trevor Nuckols & wife Christine; her great grandchildren, Chandler Nuckols and Beau Nuckols, and her sister, Jo Nell Lee Pohl.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Howard “Jim Bob” Nuckols who died on October 4, 2021, and her parents, Joel and Anna Faye Lee.
