The Eastern New Mexico football program finalized the 2021 schedule and is looking forward to returning to the field after seeing the 2020 season canceled.

The Greyhounds have 11 contests on the schedule, six of which will be played at home and five on the road. Eastern will square off with seven Lone Star Conference (LSC) opponents and four non-conference foes.

Head coach Tye Hiatt will be in this first season at the helm of the Hounds and is ready to continue the success of the Eastern New Mexico football program.

“It’s going to be great to have six home games at Greyhound Stadium. There have not been many times throughout my coaching career that I have had the opportunity to play at home six times in one season but our team is looking forward to playing in front of our fans and students. The Lone Star Conference is extremely tough, year in and year out, but our student-athletes are excited to compete and work toward our goal of playing at a high level,” said Hiatt.

The Hounds open the season with three straight home contests as they welcome Central Washington University on September 2, Adams State University on September 11, and LSC opponent Texas A&M University-Kingsville on September 18.

Eastern’s first road game of the season will be at Midwestern State University on September 25.

October 2 will see the Hounds host Lincoln University (Calif.) during Homecoming Weekend. This will be the first meeting between the two programs as it is also Lincoln’s first season sponsoring a team.

Eastern then turns its attention to in-state rival, Western New Mexico University when the two face off in Silver City on October 9.

The following Saturday (October 16), the Hounds and the Buffs of West Texas A&M will square off at Greyhound Stadium during US Bank Family Weekend. Eastern will look to avenge the Wagon Wheel Game loss to WT from the last time the two teams met in 2019.

The remainder of October’s contests have the Greyhounds at UT Permian Basin on the 16th followed by the last home game of the season against Angelo State University on the 30th.

Eastern will travel to North American University for a November 6 contest before wrapping up the season with one final road contest at Texas A&M University-Commerce on November 13. The Hounds haven’t seen a victory over the Lions since 2013 so they will be looking to end the regular season on a high note.

Information on tickets for home games will be available soon.
