The Floyd Lady Broncos traveled to Albuquerque for a chance at the State Championship title for NMAA Class 1A volleyball on Thursday, November 14.
Their first match was against Santa Fe Waldorf at 9:45 am. The Lady Broncos went into the game ranked #5, facing a #12 ranked team. After 4 sets, Floyd came out on top with a score of 3-1 and advanced to the 2nd round of the tournament.
The second game began at 4:45 pm. Floyd faced the #4 seed, Quemado. The game lasted 2 long hours, with back and forth wins for both teams. At 6:15 pm, both teams had 2 wins, and went into the 5th set for the win.
The Lady Broncos were 16-5 going into the game and their opponent was 17-3. The underdog, our Floyd Lady Broncos came out of that 5th set with a win of 3-2, and they move on to the 3rd round. They will face #1 Melrose tomorrow, November 15 at 3 pm. Winner will advance to the final 4 of the tournament.
