It’s mid-October and the weather has gotten chilled. This means sweaters are being taken out of plastic bins and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are everywhere. The usual entertainment for this month is to visit haunted houses, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and many costume parties. When you have little ones at home though, there are plenty of nights where you want to stay in and just watch a movie together. Horror movies, or what we like to call “Halloween Movies,” aren’t always very family-friendly. Let’s face it, most horror movies are just….a lot to handle! We get it. We all have that movie that causes us to sleep with the lights on. Luckily, there are some movies out there for you to watch with the kids to get in the Halloween mood, without losing any sleep or worrying about the monsters under the bed. These movies may make you feel a little nostalgic too!

Halloweentown:

There are 4 of these films, and they will definitely bring back some memories to make you feel nostalgic. Plus, they are just spooky enough to put you in the Halloween Spirit! So plan a Halloweentown Movie Marathon with the kids this weekend and stay in.

The Nightmare Before Christmas:

The movie features a song that says, “This is Halloween! This is Halloween…” so of course it should be on the list!

Casper:

Come on, Casper is a friendly ghost! What could be scary about that? This movie is perfect for the little ones to watch, even at night!

Coraline:

The little door and people with button eyes. Did I mention there’s also a cat that talks? It’s a cartoon. How scary could it be?

Paranorman:

Paranorman talks to ghosts! Which makes him an outcast, but also a hero! It’s a cute movie with a spooky spin.

It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!:

Who doesn’t like a good Charlie Brown movie? You were raised on them. Why not raise your kids on them! This one is perfect for the younger kids in your life!

Goosebumps:

Yes, the new movie with Jack Black. It’s a fairly spooky movie that will have you feelin’ nostalgic about the books you read when you were younger. Probably not suitable for the littlest of your family, but preteen and older will love this one!

Ghostbusters:

This one is iconic! Everyone needs to see the marshmallow man attacking NYC!

Corpse Bride:

Who doesn’t love a good Tim Burton movie, especially when all of them are spooky!

And the best one of them all……

Hocus Pocus:

A virgin lights the black flame candle and Bette Midler gives a performance that you will die for! (Not literally though)
