People can expect to have their bags checked and be screened for weapons before getting past the gates.
NMSP said people should also take precautions to protect themselves.
“Any time you have a big group of people, you’re going to have people that take advantage and some people know people are coming from out of state, so yeah, we suggest you don’t leave any valuables in your car keep them locked away or hidden and use the parking lot provided here by state police,” said NMSP Lieutenant Hugo Munoz.
Munoz said in addition to the uniformed officers, there are undercover officers patrolling the state fair.
