This tried and true alpaca farm in Clovis is crazy for alpacas, and after you visit, you will be too. This down to earth and friendly farm is fully committed to quality alpacas, and their passion isn’t hard to see. At their open farm events, you can peek into the life of an alpaca farmer on a farm tour and end the day with a visit to their farm store for the best alpaca socks and stuffed animals for the kids. The alpacas love cooler weather, so now is the best time to visit, and after you spend some time with these furry friends, you’ll leave with your heart feeling warm.

Welcome to Windrush Alpacas!

Owners Ric and Rosemary Metcalf are passionate about alpacas, and that love has grown since they discovered the world of alpacas in 1997. Alpacas are beautiful, intelligent, and easy animals to manage. Owning these animals is a rewarding and profitable experience, and Windrush Alpacas is dedicated to teaching the public and helping along the way if you wish to own your own one day.

Their alpaca farm is not open to the public every day, but about once a month they host Open Farm Days where you can receive a farm tour from the owners, ask any questions you might have, and visit their farm store. You can even feed an alpaca!

You can always call and set up a visit if you’re interested in learning more about these majestic animals. If you can’t own your own alpaca quite yet, Windrush has an Adopt-a-Paca program.

If you sponsor one of Windrush’s alpacas, you’ll be involved in many ways. You’ll receive an official adoption certificate, a picture of your alpaca, a copy of the Alpaca Registry notes for your alpaca that includes its birthday and lineage, and even pen pal letters from your alpaca! This is the perfect way to be involved even if you don’t have the space or resources to own an alpaca.

These huacaya alpacas at Windrush are a sight to see, and Windrush helps mentor breeders all over the country to ensure the health and quality of alpacas everywhere.

Make sure to stop in at Windrush on an Open Farm Day so that you can experience the true beauty of alpacas — your heart will never be the same.

Windrush Alpacas is located at 770 CR-M, Clovis, NM. Their next Open Farm Day is November 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
