Evelyn “Bunch” Faulkenburry, passed away on Aug. 18, 2022 at the Farwell Care and Rehab Center. She was born Evelyn Estella Judah in Causey, NM on October 30, 1925, the second of four children of Floyd G. and Nola Lee Judah. She attended all twelve years of school at Causey, graduating in 1943 as Salutatorian of her class. After a year of college at Portales, she married her soldier sweetheart, S. M. “Sarge” Faulkenburry on June 14, 1944. They shared sixty years together through good times and hard times. Through the War years they were apart for some months, but she followed him to stateside Army bases in California and Illinois. After the War, they settled in Clovis, where their only son was born. Three years later while farming west of Portales, a daughter was born, and then another five years after moving to Irving, TX the birth of their youngest daughter completed the family.
Bunch’s great loves were God and her family. She gave of herself by being a dedicated helpmate to her husband, and a loving, caring mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She taught Bible Class for many years, touching for eternity the lives of numerous dozens of young children in the Church of Christ of the various places they lived and worked. She gave of herself by sewing for others, baking countless cakes for many occasions, and contributing her time, especially for specific needs. She enjoyed sewing and needlecrafts of all kinds and used her talents keeping herself busy always until her fingers would no longer cooperate.
Bunch worked alongside Sarge renovating six large older houses while residing in them at the same time. Bunch worked as the school secretary for several years while they lived in Grandview, TX.
Sarge and Bunch returned to New Mexico in 1978, to make their home in Clovis and were members of 16th and Pile Church of Christ.
