The family would like to thank the staff of the Bee Hive Home and the Hospice care givers for their kind ministries to Mrs. George during her final illness.
Eunice Marie George, known to almost everyone as “Nunu,” was born June 25, 1928, in Belen, NM to the home of Ora Dorothy (Hatfield) and Volney William Bowen and died Dec. 8, 2022 in Clovis, NM. Eunice’s father worked for the railroad, so consequently the family moved several times as she was growing up. Mrs. George graduated from high school in Fort Sumner in 1946. Later she attended Beauty College in Clovis, and was employed in several different shops in Clovis over the years. On June 9, 1967 she was married to Billy Joe George.
Mrs. George was a member of the Sandia Baptist Church in Clovis. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, which lent itself well to her favorite pass time, cooking. She loved collecting recipes, and fixing whatever her grandchildren asked for. Even as recently as a few weeks ago, she was still cutting recipes out of magazines. Nunu loved her family, and had pictures of them literally everywhere throughout her home. Her refrigerator was covered with them, as well as every available shelf and surface. When it became necessary to move to an assisted living facility her pictures were what she wanted to go with her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Mike Furrow of Clovis; her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Marlene George of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, Audra (Donny) Meiwes, Michael Furrow, Jr., Valerie Gray, Phillip Wayne “Chief” (Angela) George II; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. George was preceded in death by both of her parents, her only brother, W. E. “Bill” Bowen, her sister, Charlene Franks who died only a few days before Mrs. George died, a grandson, Billy Joe George II, a daughter, Kayla Ann Coleman, her son, Gregory Wayne Gray, and by her husband, Billy Joe George who died Oct. 21, 1996.
