The Annual EPAC Tournament was this past weekend, Jan 9-12, at Greyhound Arena in Portales. Boys and Girls from Dora, Elida, and Floyd all participated in the event.

Dora

Dora boys’ scores were not available at the time this article was written, however the girls’ scores were. The Lady Coyotes faced Floyd in their first game of the tournament, and won with a final score of 48-19. Their second game was against Logan, and the Lady Coyotes lost 54-18. Their final matchup was against a no varsity opponent that wasn’t presently listed on Max Preps, but the final score was 34-29 in Dora’s favor. The Lady Coyotes are now 8-5 this season after tournament play.

Elida

The Elida Tigers, both boys and girls, joined Dora in competing in the EPAC, with mixed success. The Elida boys won 2 of their 3 matchups at the tournament. Their first game was against Logan, and the Tigers were handed a loss of 75-69. Elida’s second game was against Vaughn, and the Tigers came out on top with a final score of 58-44. Their final game was against Floyd, and Elida won with a score of 44-22. The Elida boys are now 7-5 this season.

The Lady Tigers’ first game of the EPAC was against Melrose, and after 4 close periods, Melrose finished on top. The game ended in a score of 44-42 in Melrose’s favor, handing Elida Girls a loss. The Lady Tigers’ second game was against Fort Sumner, where they came out on top. The final score was 45-33, moving the Lady Tigers to 5-3 this season.

Floyd

The Floyd Broncos boys and girls competed with mixed results. The Floyd boys have struggled this season to add wins to their record. The EPAC tournament followed in suit with the earlier games they’ve had this season. The Broncos faced Grady first in the tournament, and lost with a score of 44-28. The second matchup the Broncos had was against Tatum, where they managed to finish with a win. The final score was 53-35 in Floyd’s favor. And the last game of the EPAC Tournament for the Floyd boys was against their Roosevelt County rival, Elida, where the Broncos were handed another loss. The score ended at 44-22. The tournament added 1 win to Floyd boys’ tough record of 2-7.

The Floyd Lady Broncos faced Dora as their first game of the tournament, and Dora ended up winning with a final score of 48-19. The Lady Broncos then played Grady/San Jon/House and won with a final score of 50-42. The Lady Broncos are now 3-6 this season.
