PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico women’s soccer team finished out its home slate with a contest against Lubbock Christian University on Wednesday night in Greyhound Stadium. ENMU was handed a close 1-0 loss.

Neither team was able to find the back of the next in the first half, but the Lady Chaps held an 11-2 shot advantage through 45 minutes of play.

In the 54th minute LCU’s Kaylen McNatt collected a pass from Julie Shahi and sent the ball sailing into the goal to put the Lady Chaps up, 1-0.

The Greyhounds continued to battle, seeing several great scoring opportunities but Lubbock Christian goaltender, Hannah Wise, collected every shot she faced to secure the 1-0 win for her team.

NOTABLE STATS

  • The Lady Chaps held a 19-14 shot advantage but the shots on goal were even at 7-7.
  • Nina Ballesteros paced the team in shots with three, while Samantha Vasquez had two shots on goal.
  • Whitney Dockweiler made six saves in net for the Greyhounds.
  • Wise finished the contest with seven saves for Lubbock Christian.

  • Prior to the contest, the Greyhounds honored seven seniors for their dedication to the program. The seniors recognized included Whitney Dockweiler, Alda Tarrado Montoliu, Carly Kowalick, Brianna Tellez, Makenzie Mendez, Katey Stice, and Natalia Wiest.
  • The Greyhounds shift to 2-14-1 overall and 0-11-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
  • With the win, Lubbock Christian improves to 8-6-2 overall and 5-6-1 in the conference.
