NEW ORLEANS – The Eastern New Mexico track and field program earned multiple academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
The ENMU women’s track and field team received the USTFCCCA Academic Team Award, while senior sprinter Danee Bustos, junior sprinter Kandice Miles and junior middle distance runner Ivar Moinat each collected an individual All-Academic Award.

To be recognized as an All-Academic Team, a program must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00.

The Greyhounds women’s track and field team excelled in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year, totaling a cumulative team GPA of 3.36, the highest GPA of all the programs in the Lone Star Conference. It is the second year in the row that the ENMU women’s team has received the All-Academic Team accolade.

To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors, the recipients must maintain a 3.25 GPA and reached either an NCAA Championship automatic or provisional qualifying standard.
Bustos was honored after reaching the NCAA Division II Championships during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, competing in the 200-meter event at the indoor championships and the 4×100-meter relay at the outdoor championships. The Belen, N.M. native collected USTFCCCA All-American accolades after completing her final race in a Greyhounds uniform.
Miles, another member of the women’s 4×100-meter relay team, was also selected after leading the Hounds to a fifth place finish at the outdoor championships, the best ever finish for a Hounds relay team at an NCAA Championship meet. The Houston, Texas product earned a pair of All-American accolades during the outdoor season, collecting first team honors in the 4×100-meter relay and second team in the 200-meter dash.

On the men’s side, Moinat added another piece of hardware following his finest season on the ENMU men’s track and field team. Moinat reached the NCAA Championships in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, competing in the 800-meter run in each meet. The Amsterdam, Netherlands native scored All-American First Team honors during the indoor season after placing seventh at the championship meet.
