PORTALES, NM – March 30, 2022 – Eastern New Mexico University is proud to present the 45th annual Jack Williamson Lectureship April 7-9, 2022. The theme for his year’s lectureship – named for revered science fiction author, ENMU alumnus and emeritus Jack Williamson – is “Speculative Fiction: Never the Same Story Twice.”
ENMU is proud to welcome Nebula Award winning author Walter Jon Williams as our guest of honor. Williams has published across a wide range of genres in film, television, comics and ficition, including the Praxis series, the cyperpunk novel Hardwired, and Lord Quillifer, his latest novel.
Acting as Mistress of Ceremonies for this year’s series is Connie Willis, who has published science fiction and fantasy work for more than 50 years, with her most recent novel being Take a Look at the Five and Ten in 2020.
“It’s not the names alone that make this event special,” said David Sweeten, chair of the Williamson Lectureship Committee. “Jack Williamson began a tradition that welcomed these authors of science ficition and other speculative fiction to engage in lively discussion, with the campus and community invited to take part.”
Highlights of this year’s lectureship include a retrospective and reading with Walter John Williams, the annual lectureship luncheon and a creative writing workshop with Connie Willis.
