PORTALES, NM – April 19, 2022 – The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking is proud to present “Six Stories Tall” on April 21-24 at the University Theatre Center (UTC).
Written by Marcos Ramirez and directed by ENMU theatre Instructor Ricardo Quintana, “Six Stories Tall” is a series of six vignettes based on Latino and youth facing issues while growing up. By using fantasy and fairy tales, the audience is taken on a journey that involves everything from mermaids to Batman to an entire world painted purple.
“These stories are about these youth coming into their own power, finding inner strength, and learning valuable lessons,” Quintana said. “I have enjoyed incorporating movement while telling this story.
“This is a children’s show, but it hits hard on real world issues,” cast member Alex Sena said. “Kids can relate to those issues, but this play makes them accessible to children.”
Joining Sena in the cast are ENMU students Isreal Stacy, Gwen Buchanan, Kieran Verduzco, Santiago Chacon, Sydney Blevins, Ronin Stewart, Micaela Vigil, Samantha Bartl, Alexis Whitteker, Chloe Earp and Santiago Chacon. Allison Miles serves as the production stage manager, with Liam Hurley assisting.
Performance times are April 21-23 at 7 p.m., with a matinee showing on Sunday, April, 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for active military and senior citizens, and free for current ENMU students.
