CASPER, Wy. – The Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo team is through five days of competition at the College National Finals Rodeo with two athletes wrapping up their season, while one remains in the hunt for Saturday’s final.
Lindsey Adcock and Landon Beardsworth both wrapped competition in the breakaway roping and steer wrestling, respectively. Celie Vick still has a quality shot at making the short go in the goat tying on Saturday.
Beardsworth had a rough outing in the steer wrestling as he posted a pair of no times in the first and second go. He posted a time of 9.3 in the third go on Thursday night, but will not qualify for Saturday’s final. He currently sits 34th in the standings with one section set to compete on Friday.
Adcock posted a no time in the first go of the breakaway roping and finished 15th in the second go with a time of 11.9 seconds. She went 11.8 in the third go to finish with an average of 23.7. She currently sits 25th in the standings with one more section of the third go set to compete on Friday.
Vick had a superb performance in the third go of the goat tying to give her chance at qualifying for Saturday’s short go. Her time of 6.3 in the third round was tied for second-fastest and puts her average at 20.5. She went 6.9 and 7.3 in the first and second go, respectively.
Vick’s average from her three rounds has her ranked fifth after Thursday’s competition, with one more section of the third go set to compete on Friday to determine the top-12 finalists for Saturday.
