ALPINE, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico rodeo program traveled to the Sul Ross State University N.I.R.A. Southwest Region Rodeo on September 23-25.
On the men’s side, Trent Wood split seventh and eighth in the first go with a time of 9.1 seconds. In the short go, he had a time of 10.8 seconds which was good for seventh place. In the average he also finished seventh.
Wood made the short go in team roping with Hayden Powell. They split sixth in the short with a time of 5.4 seconds.
On the women’s side, Madelyn Schauer placed ninth in the first go of barrel racing with a time of 16.40 seconds. She had a time of 16.41 seconds in the short go to place seventh in both the short and average.
Schauer also competed in breakaway roping. She split fourth, fifth, and sixth in the first go with a time of 2.2 seconds.
Jordyn Everson placed sixth in the first go of goat tying with a time of 6.9 seconds. In the short go, she recorded a time of 10.3 seconds to finish eighth in the short and ninth in the average.
Overall, the women’s team finished 10th.
The ENMU rodeo program heads to the Vernon College Rodeo in Vernon, Texas, Sept. 30- October 2.
