PORTALES, NM – Aug. 17, 2021 – The Kappa Sigma chapter at Eastern New Mexico University earned the Kappa Sigma Founders’ Circle Award, recognizing its success as a scholarship, fellowship, and service leader.
The 67 members of ENMU’s Theta-Zeta chapter had numerous achievements during the 2020–21 academic year, including earning a chapter GPA that was well above ENMU’s all men’s GPA for both semesters, raising more than $14,000 for charitable causes, and engaging in 3,400 hours of community service.
The chapter also raised more than $22,500 for its Kappa Sigma Endowment Chapter Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to chapter members based on academic achievement, campus involvement and leadership within Kappa Sigma.
“The Founders Circle Award is the highest honor to receive from Kappa Sigma,” said Jesus Castillo, grand master of the Theta-Zeta chapter. “We work hard to give to the community and help our brothers become better men.”
Theta-Zeta also won the Founders Award of Chapter Excellence (FACE) award, recognizing chapter management, achievement and program development. Only 31 of 300 total chapters and colonies in the U.S. and Canada earn this award annually.
