The Jazz Band, the Chamber and University Singers, the Clarinet Choir, Brass Quintet and the Symphonic band are just some of what people could expect to hear at the Holiday Concert on Dec. 6 in the Eastern New Mexico University Campus Union Building Ballroom.
“Many, many hours have gone into preparing the program as a holiday treat for the community,” said Jason Paulk, director of choral activities and professor of music. “The Holiday Concert has something for everyone in the family and features ensembles from throughout the Music Department.”
“There is music greeting the audience as they walk into the Ballroom and what follows is a fast-paced performance of ensembles from all parts of the ballroom,” continued Paulk.
He further described the Holiday Concert as a “collage” experience, which means that many different ensembles will be performing in different locations throughout the ballroom that evening.
Paulk said that the concert always has high attendance, because it’s “the only time during the year that our many diverse ensembles get a chance to perform on one program.”
He said the concert is a great treat for all the people involved and up to 700 people have been recorded to attend the event before.
“Many people tell me that they’re favorite experience is hearing all 700 people in attendance performing the sing-a-long at the end of the evening,” said Paulk.
The Holiday Concert is sponsored by the ENMU Music Department, ENMU Friends of Music and the ENMU Student Fees Board. Admission to the event is free and a reception will follow.
