PORTALES, NM – Sept. 7, 2022 – ENMU-Portalesreports that Eastern New Mexico University’s enrollment numbers are up by 2.3 percent overall from fall 2021. The fall 2022 total headcount is 5,106 students, up from 4,991 in 2021–2022.

Eastern New Mexico University undergraduate enrollment grew to 3,833 students, a 2.1 percent increase from the previous year. The freshmen class saw the biggest growth – a 23.2 percent increase – boasting a freshmen class 430 students strong. Over the past year, transfer students showed a 23 percent increase in enrollment.

Graduate student enrollment grew from 2021–2022 by 3.1 percent with 1,273 currently enrolled.

ENMU houses 475 students on campus, including 305 first-time freshmen. Additionally, San Juan Village apartments report 248 residents for the fall 2022 semester.

“Our enrollment growth was a team effort, across campus and with our community,” said ENMU President and Chancellor Patrice Caldwell. “We are excited about this and will work hard to retain these students and ensure their success.”
