PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexcio football team hosts Adams State University for a 6 p.m.kickoff on Saturday, September 11 at Greyhound Stadium.

Fans are encouraged to get to the game early to enjoy tailgating, the Dawg Walk, and performances by the Greyhound Sound Marching Band leading up to the start of the contest.

HOUNDS’ LAST TIME OUT

The Greyhounds are coming off a tough 66-24 season opening loss to Central Washington University on September 2.
The highlight of the night for Eastern came on a 95-yard pass reception for a touchdown from Nathan Valencia to Justin Manyweather. It stands as the second-longest pass reception in program history. The longest was a 97-yard reception by Michael Matthew against Angelo State University on October 1, 2011.

Valencia finished the night 14-23 passing with 183 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed for one touchdown. Manyweather was the team leader in receiving yards with 144. He had five receptions and one touchdown.

On the defensive side, Cameron Santa Cruz paced the Hounds in tackles with eight, while Camron Pitcher Jr. was close behind with seven.
Aseli Finau was credited with a sack in the contest.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES

Adams State is coming off a 35-17 loss to Western New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Quarterback Lincoln Labrum finished the night 17-32 on passing attempts with 128 passing yards and one touchdown. 
Elijah Harper had a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter. 

IN REMEMBRANCE

Prior to Saturday’s game, the ENMU football program and athletics department will honor the memory of all those lost in the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001. The Greyhounds would also like to thank all of the service men and women as well as first responders who work so hard to keep our country safe. Cannon Air Force Base will perform a flyover during the playing of the national anthem.

All games will be broadcast on 105.9 KSEL-FM and KSELCountry.com with Donald “Doc” Elder calling the action. Games will also be broadcast on 106.5 KEND in Roswell and Artesia.

AROUND THE LSC

Six LSC teams started off the 2021 season with wins in week one- Angelo State, Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Commerce, UT Permian Basin, West Texas A&M, and Western New Mexico.

After week one, LSC football teams are 6-2 overall this season. The squads are 2-1 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
The first round of LSC Football Players of the Week were announced earlier this week. CJ Odom of Angleo State was named Offensive Player of the Week, Xavier Morris of Texas A&M-Commerce was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Jake Viquez of Texas A&M-Commerce was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
