PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico football team ran past the Lincoln University Oaklanders, 52-6, on Homecoming Weekend.

The Greyhounds struck early and often as they quickly took a 24-0 advantage by the middle of the second quarter with touchdowns from Martavius Dilland Justin Manyweather (2) and a field goal from Cage Jones.

Lincoln’s Lamar Housely scored on a 38-yard pass from Cameron Burston with just over two minutes left in the second frame to cut the deficit to 24-6.

Eastern came out in the second half eager to improve upon its lead and did just that, scoring 28 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters. Manyweather picked up his third touchdown of the game, while Tafari Gomillion scored twice, and Devon Bailey made it to the end zone once.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Nathan Valencia was 14-22 with 259 passing yards and four touchdowns.
  • Harper Terry also saw time at the quarterback position and finished 2-5 for 42 yards and one touchdown.
  • Gomillion paced all rushers with 76 yards on 21 attempts.
  • Manyweather finished the contest with seven receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Mazin Richards led the defense with four sacks for a total loss of 37 yards.
  • Camron Pitcher Jr. had a team-high eight tackles, while Cameron Santa Cruz had five.
  • Overall, the Hounds saw 457 yards of total offense.
  • Penalties played a large role in the contest as the Oaklanders saw 20 penalties for 191 yards lost, while ENMU had eight penalties for 95 yards lost.

  • ENMU is now 2-3 on the season overall.
  • Eastern is 2-0 this season when holding its opponent to under 20 points. The Hounds hold a 13-0 record over the competition when holding them to under 20 dating back to the 2017 season.

  • The 1-0 series lead now belongs to Eastern as today was the first meeting between the two programs.
