PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team hits the road once again, this time travelling to Memphis, Tenn., to take on LeMoyne-Owen for a three-game tilt and then going to Texas College in Tyler. First pitch against the Magicians is tabbed for noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Greyhounds enter the matchup with a 10-1 record on the season. It marks the best start since the 2006 team also opened the year 10-1. ENMU can eclipse last season’s win total with a victory this weekend.

Offensively, the Greyhounds boast one of the best offenses in the country, hitting .377 on the year and averaging 12.9 runs/game. The 142 runs are the most in the Lone Star Conference this season while the .377 clip is the second highest.

Outfielder Michael McNicholl has led the team at the dish, hitting a blistering .583 with seven doubles, two round-trippers and a league-best 22 RBI. Infielder Alex DeLaCruz has also been on a tear to open the year, hitting .531 with six doubles, a triple, four home runs and 20 RBI.

On the mound, Scott Klein leads the club with a 3-0 record to go along with a 0.82 ERA. The right-hander has picked up 19 strikeouts against 39 batters faced. Nick DeArmond (2-0, 1.08 ERA) and Austin Paisar (0-0, 1.50 ERA) each boast a sub-2.00 ERA. Enrique Perez (2-0, 2.51 ERA) has logged 14.1 innings on the rubber this year over three appearances and one start.

Next weekend, ENMU heads to San Angelo for a non-conference matchup with the Rams. For all the latest news on ENMU athletics, follow @ENMUBaseball and @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
