Baseball Cameron Brennan
Eastern New Mexico baseball return to Greyhound Baseball Field for a weekend conference series against UT Permian Basin. The four-game series will span over three days, and begin with a nine-inning game on Friday afternoon with a 4 pm start time. Saturday will feature a doubleheader at 2 pm and 5 pm, with games scheduled for seven innings. The series finale will commence on Sunday with a 1 pm start time for the nine-inning game.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Hounds played two games this past weekend against Cameron University, falling in both contests 3-1 and 10-0 (8 Inn.).
• In game one, Cameron used three unearned runs in the third inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The Aggies pitching kept the Hounds at bay, only allowing three hits. Eastern scored in the final inning after a Nyles Duren triple, but couldn’t score any more runs after that.
• Cameron opened game two with five runs early, and its pitching allowed just three hits the entire game. CU ended the game in the eighth inning with a final score of 10-0.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
•The Falcons come to Portales with a 10-game losing skid, along with an overall record of 3-14 and 2-14 conference standing. In its last series, UTPB were swept by #3 West Texas A&M University. The series finale finished 3-1 for the Buffaloes, which was the closest game of the weekend.
•Earlier in the season, the Falcons faced St. Edwards, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Texas A&M International, taking one game from TAMUK and TAMIU.
•Michael Clapperton is the team’s best hitter, holding a .328 batting average and leading the team with 19 hits. After him, Pedro Astacio and Garret Thornton each have 13 hits this season, with Thornton holding a team best nine RBI’s.
•The pitching staff has a collective ERA of 9.53, with Cade Pollard holding an ERA of 3.27 in five starts this season. Clay Thompson has two wins this season in six appearances, while Austin Parks has two saves on the season in 5.2 innings pitched.

• Cooper Hamilton has the Hounds best batting average at .387. Hamilton is tied for the team lead in both hits (12) and walks (7), holding an on base percentage of .500. Spencer Roach holds the best RBI count with seven, while Camden Matthews has scored a team high 10 runs this season.
• Damian Acosta and Dalton Thatcher have each recorded wins this season, with Acosta throwing a team high 17.2 innings pitched with 23 strikeouts. Rugar Bravo, Tommy Perez, and Noah De La Riva have each made two starts this season.
