The Eastern New Mexico women’s athletic programs were presented the Lone Star Conference Academic Excellence Award for recording the highest GPA in the Lone Star Conference during the 2017-18 academic year during the ENMU softball doubleheader against Tarleton State at Greyhound Softball Field on Friday.

“We are proud of our women’s student-athletes and their academic achievements,” said Eastern New Mexico Athletic Director Greg Waggoner. “They represent the very best of what it means to be a STUDENT-athlete. These young women represent ENMU well in several dimensions and I appreciate their prioritization and dedication. We appreciate the assistance that our student-athletes receive in helping make these achievements happen, but I especially appreciate the leadership that our sport programs have, as our coaches set the tone and communicate the priorities starting with their recruiting.”
The Hounds earned the award after recording the highest collective GPA among all of the women’s athletic programs in the Lone Star Conference while finishing with the best team GPAs in four of the nine women’s sports in the LSC, including: basketball (3.514), cross country (3.636), indoor track and field (3.530), and outdoor track and field (3.531).
