WOMEN’S BASKETBALL LEADS THE WAY WITH A 3.53 PROGRAM GPA

Eight athletic programs at Eastern New Mexico finished the fall 2022 semester with 3.0 GPA’s or higher.

“I’m extremely proud of how hard our student-athletes have worked this semester,” said Assistant Athletic Director Liz Acosta. “As a student-athlete they have to balance practice, game days, and academics. The balance isn’t easy, but they put in the work and effort every single day and get it done.”

Women’s basketball held the highest GPA among all other ENMU teams with a 3.53 GPA.

“I am extremely proud of these young women for their hard work in the classroom this semester. They are committed to excellence in all areas of their lives and it shows by their focus at team study halls and finding every opportunity to hit the books despite their extremely busy schedules as student-athletes. One-third of our team received 4.0 GPA’s, including two engineering majors, one pre-law, and one graduate student,” said women’s basketball head coach Meghan De los Reyes. “Every single player reached 3.0 or better and that takes a group truly committed to academics and each other. We take pride in representing our university both on and off the court and look forward to continuing to excel this next semester as well.”

Baseball led the way for the men’s programs as they completed the semester at a 3.09 GPA.

“From day one our guys understand the importance placed upon academic success within out program,” said baseball head coach Riley Price. “A team GPA of 3.0 or higher each semester is not a goal for us, it’s an expectation. I’m proud of our guys for meeting this expectation each semester and I expect it to continue.”

The other six programs with 3.0’s or higher include women’s rodeo (3.41), women’s soccer (3.23), softball (3.19), men’s soccer (3.05), men’s basketball (3.05), and volleyball (3.02).
