Track & Field Cameron Brennan
This will be the final meet for the Greyhounds before taking on the 2022 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The meet will be hosted by the Texas A&M-Kingsville in Kingsville, Texas, starting on Thursday, May 5, and ending on Saturday, May 7.
This season several Greyhounds have set standout marks in the LSC. Malethabo Seema currently holds the second fastest time in the LSC for the 800 meters, with a time of 2:13.61. Lethabo Seema is just behind with a mark of 2:18.03 in the 800 meters, landing in sixth place.
For the women’s 1500 meters, Aminata Kenyawani has run the 10th quickest time in the conference, clocking 4:47.73 in the distance. Kenyawani also holds a top-10 mark for the 10,000 meters, finishing the 10K in a time of 38:51.34, fifth fastest time in the conference. Dorcas Kosgei holds the eighth fastest time this season in the 5,000, 17:52.11, and Marta Pascoa posted the sixth best time in the 3000 Steeplechase, 11:31.42.
In the long jump, Arianna Hayde has a mark of 5.80m (19′ 0.5″) this season, the fifth best jump in the conference this season. Hayde also ranks in the top-10 for the javelin 33.40m (109′ 7″), taking the ninth best distance. In the shot put, Tamia Smith is currently sixth in conference standings with a throw of 13.15m (43′ 1.75″)
Kelvin Kipkemboi has the third best time among conference competitors for the 10,000 meters. In his first time completing the event, Kipkemboi clocked 30:59.58 on the stop watch at the Jo Meaker Classic in early April.
