Portales, NM–Oct. 31, 2022– Eastern New Mexico University earned status as a U.S. News “Best College” because of its excellent standing in the recently published 2022-2023 Best College rankings.

Eastern New Mexico was ranked in the top 50% of Universities in the category of social mobility, for regional Universities in the West.

Social Mobility rankings focus on economically disadvantaged students who are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics. Universities recognized in this category are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000.

“ENMU’s mission of Student Success means that our graduates are just as competitive in the workforce or graduate programs as students from other, more expensive or elite institutions.” said Patrice Caldwell, ENMU President. “We are proud to be recognized as a U.S. News “Best” College for the social mobility of our students, achieving career goals and making better lives for themselves and their families.“

Eastern New Mexico University was also ranked as one of the top 59 public Universities in the West and one of the top 120 Regional Universities in the West.
