Information Regarding Eastern New Mexico Horizon Behavioral Health Crisis Triage Center is now Online
New website highlights the benefits of getting care in the community With plans well underway to break ground on Eastern New Mexico’s own behavioral health crisis triage center, the consortium overseeing the new facility, which consists of Curry, DeBaca, Quay, Roosevelt, and Union Counties, as well as the Cities of Clovis and Portales and the Village of Fort Sumner, announced a new website to share news and information regarding the project.
The facility will be called Horizon Behavior Health Center and the website is www.horizonbhcenter.com. It details the public listening process that Denver-based Initium Health facilitated to learn about local needs, and how the consortium of counties and municipalities collaborated to make this a truly regional project.
“The new website is the place to see how the Horizon Center meets our commitment of investing in our counties and municipalities today for a healthier tomorrow,” said Claire Burroughes, assistant city manager for Clovis. “It’s the central hub of resources and information pertaining to the Center.”
The website includes a project timeline and a quarterly newsletter. Of particular note, Burroughes said, is a page
about Crisis Continuum of Care. “We all know jails and emergency rooms are not the ideal places to manage a behavioral health crisis,” added James Corbett, J.D., M.Div., Principal of Denver-based Initium Health, which is supporting the project. “The Crisis Continuum of Care is about connecting the person who needs help with the right kind of help, in the right setting, at the right time.
Sometimes that means a call to 988 and sometimes it means getting help on-site. The Horizon Behavioral Health Center will improve life in Eastern New Mexico by providing care locally and regionally.”
The Horizon Behavioral Health Center will provide:
• Comprehensive assessments
• Crisis stabilization
• Withdrawal management
• Medical services
• Community transition support
“This is a robust level of services for a rural area and the way our communities came together to move this project forward is tremendous,” Burroughes said.
