PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico University recently announced three finalists in Michael Scarano, John Lewis and Casey Lish for the current open Director of Athletics position.
All three candidates will be invited onto campus for an in-person interview in the coming weeks before a final decision for the position is made. The candidates have been selected by a committee consisting of various Eastern New Mexico staff members and community representatives.
Michael Scarano has served as the Associate Director of Athletics at California Baptist University since 2013 and serves as a member of the College Athletics and Law Advisory Board. Prior to his time at California Baptist, he served as the Director of Athletics at Waldorf University for three years and has been serving in an athletic administration role since 1993 with stops at The University of Alabama in Huntsville and the University of California, Riverside.
John Lewis currently serves as the Director of Athletics at Bluefield State College, a position in which he has held since July of 2016. Lewis took over at Bluefield State College following a two-year stint at Alcorn State University as the Associate Athletic Director for Administration. Lewis began his career in athletic administration in 2004 with two different roles at St. Cloud State University following a nine-year career in the football coaching ranks at three different institutions in Murray State, the University of Mississippi and St. Cloud State.
Casey Lish currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director of Development for West Texas A&M University, a position in which he was promoted into in January of 2018 following two years as the department’s Assistant Athletic Director of Ticketing and Donor Relations. Lish’s career in athletic administration began in 2015 as the Ticketing and Donor Relations Manager at West Texas A&M, a position he held until June of 2016.
