The family of Earnest E. Griffin of Portales, NM is saddened to announce that Earnest passed on March 26th, 2020 at the age of 69 years. He passed away in his home after a short illness with cancer.
Earnest was the sixth of thirteen children born to the late Gladys Griffin. He considered himself to be an “Authentic Cowboy.” He loved working on ranches, being around horses and wearing his cowboy hat and boots.
He will be lovingly remembered by his seven sisters: Doris Helen (Dennis) Forester of Dallas, TX, Freddie (Willie) Douglas of Aurora, CO, Necia and Nettie Griffin of Clovis, NM, Betty Carreras of Oakland, CA, Rebecca (Mitch) Wood of Lubbock, TX, Denise Griffin of Austin, TX; His close friend, Jerome Clemmons; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, Gladys and Melvin Griffin; Four brothers, JC, Charles, Gary and Aeron Griffin; two Sisters, Lorene and Charlene Griffin; two nieces, Beatrice and KayLea Griffin; and two nephews, Maurice Griffin and Jordan Griffin-Morgan.
Because of COVID-19 and the related restrictions a memorial service will be scheduled later in the year.
