Earl passed from this life on August 14, 2024, in his home in Portales, NM. Earl’s final resting place will be in the Portales Cemetery, next to Dorothy Lamb, his loving wife of 65 years.
Earl Lamb was born Sep 24, 1926, in Allen, OK, to Henry Columbus and Minnie Ann (Rodgers) Lamb. The Lamb family settled in Carlsbad, NM, where he met and married Dorothy.
Earl Lamb served in WWII in Europe as a Tech Sergeant, Golden Lion Division, 103rd Infantry, 23rd Regiment of the US Army from Nov 1944 to Aug 1946. Earl married Dorothy Joan Turri on Aug 6, 1949, in Carlsbad, NM and they made their home in Alamogordo, NM. In 1978 they relocated to Portales, NM, where he eventually retired from working at Food Town. Earl was an ordained minister and pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy from the early 1970s until retirement. Reverend Lamb joyfully served the Lord and others, but his legend lives on with what he taught his family. Mr. Lamb lived an honorable, loving, patient, faithful, and humble life. Gratitude defined Earl’s attitude, and he inspired others to live with respect and honesty in all they do.
Music was a vital part of the Lamb household. Earl enjoyed playing guitar, while Dorothy played piano or organ at church, involving all their children. The family worship time around the piano led to his children and grandchildren also becoming musicians.
Reverend Lamb was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Joan, and 13 siblings. He is survived by seven children. Four daughters and sons-in-law are: Jo-Ann & Jim Martz of Reed City, MI; Earlene Shayotovich of Emery, SD; Deborah & Robert Aukerman of Dunlap, TN; and Sharon & Mark Bennett of Riverside, CA. Three sons and daughters-in-law are: David & Socorro Lamb of Grand Prairie, TX; Daniel & Ninfa Lamb of Lovington, NM; Michael & Martha Lamb of Portales, NM. Other survivors include 16 adored grandchildren and 20 precious great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
