Dorothy Glover Obituary
A visitation for Dorothy LaVern Glover, 80, of Portales, will be from 8 AM to 8 PM on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, at Wheeler Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at University Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Cremation burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery. Her honorary pallbearers will be her family, friends and fellow Portales Kiwanis members.
Dorothy LaVern (Hardy) Glover was born on December 8th, 1943 in Portales, New Mexico to Elwood Hardy & Bertha Shockley Hardy and passed away on June 1st, 2024 in Lubbock. The youngest daughter, Dorothy grew up in a loving home, with 13 older siblings. In 1958, Dorothy married her teenage love, Onesimo Chacon and had her son, James and later her daughter, Carla. Although this union did not last, Dorothy always held fond memories of Onie. In 1986, Dorothy married Richard Molano, whom passed away in 1991. In 2005, Dorothy married Dwayne Glover, with whom she shared 12 years together before his passing in 2017.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was very involved in her community, through church activities, hospital auxiliary volunteer program, and Kiwanis.
Dorothy was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of University Baptist Church. She retired from ENMU after working in various capacities for over 20 years. She loved reading her bible and sharing bible verses with whomever she met. She loved doing puzzles and playing board games. She especially loved spending time with family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers William, Richard, Harvey, Dean, Calvin and Robert; sisters Fay, Francis, Birtha, Estelene, Ruby, and Mildred; and husbands Onesimo Chacon, Richard Molano, and Dwayne Glover.
Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Martie Chacon; her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Gary Pierce; grandchildren Trevor and Melissa Chacon, Connor Chacon, Heather and Cade Beverage, Garry Howard, Philip and Lynn McDaniel, Jamie and Jason Blocker, Tabatha and Jessie Snell, Tatiana Grigg, and Holli and Shane Sacco; great grandchildren Tony and Leo Cordova, Tristan Chacon, James and Jaelyn Blocker, Desire Torres, Ashtyn Potter, Kylan Snell, and Wyatt and Kaston Sacco; great-great granddaughter, Amarah Torres; sister, Stella McCreesh; many nieces and nephews, and a vast amount of friends in the local area. She is also survived by her loving feline companion, Allie.
