Obituary

Graveside services for Dorman Corbin, 92, of Portales will be held at 1:00 PM, Wed., Dec. 9, 2020 in the Portales Cemetery with Dudley Cash officiating.  All of Dorman’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dorman McClellan Corbin was born April 21, 1928 in Inez, NM to the home of Ella Vera (Barger) and James Floyd Corbin, and died Sat., Dec. 5, 2020 in Portales, NM.  Dorman grew up in the Causey area, and graduated from Causey in 1946.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  Dorman was a lifetime member of VFW Post #9515.

Upon his return to Portales, he married the “Love of His Life,” Wanda Myers on March 6, 1953 in Floyd, NM.  They were blessed with two sons, James and David, and one daughter, Judy and nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and even one great-great-grandchild.  Dorman provided appliance repair for Portales and the surrounding area for many years.  He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and was currently attending Portales Valley Church of Christ.

He is survived by Wanda, his wife of more than 67 years of Portales; his two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Becky Corbin of Sinton, TX and David and Janis Corbin of Clovis; nine grandchildren, James, Jarrid, Joshua, Michael and Jonathan Corbin, Lorie Gronner, Karen Rojas, Cindy Polk and Travis Irwin; thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Travis Corbin of Canon City, CO.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents, four brothers, Haskell, Dale, Joyce and James Floyd, Jr., two sisters, Wanda Corbin and Sybil Estep, and a daughter, Judy Irwin who died Mar. 28, 2019.
