Funeral services for Doris Dobbs, 92, of Floyd, NM will be held at 10:00 A.M., Sat., Jan. 28, 2017 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Liz Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Floyd Cemetery with Rocky Victor, Ryan Victor, Wayne Rush, Matt Rush, Lonnie Bickham and Clayton Fryar serving as pallbearers. All of her many friends and her devoted family members will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family members will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The family wishes to express a special note of thanks to Jo Stewart and her late husband, Gary, and also to Liz and Phillip Smith for the special care and attention they showed for so long in providing transportation to and from church for Doris, and to the caring staffs at Heartland Continuing Care Center and the Beehive Home and to Dr. Chava for his service. Those desiring to make memorial contributions may send them to either the Floyd Methodist Church or the Floyd Cemetery Fund.

 
Doris Dobbs was born April 10, 1924 in Floyd, NM to the home of Maude (Cocke) and Marvin Judge Nall and died Jan. 25, 2017 in Portales at the local Beehive Home. Mrs. Dobbs lived almost her entire life in Floyd. She was a 1943 graduate of Floyd High School. Following graduation, she attended Eastern New Mexico University for a short time before going to work at Odom Office Supply in Portales.

 
On Jan. 31, 1947, in Portales, she was married to Charlie Dobbs. For a brief time they lived in Clovis, and Doris went to work in the catalog department of the Sears store when they first opened. After returning to Floyd she drove a school bus for a short time before taking a position as the school secretary. Later she worked at the Co-op Gin as a bookkeeper. In 1965 Doris went to work in the Motor Vehicle Department, and eventually became the office manager. She retired in 1990 after 25 years.
Doris was a faithful member of the Floyd Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and canning her produce, crocheting and fishing, and watching Wheel of Fortune on television. Above all she enjoyed being with her beloved family and visiting with her many friends.

 
She is survived by Charlie, her husband of a few days short of 70 years; three daughters, and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Shorty Southern of Nacona, TX, Mary Ella Caviness of Portales and Dana and Feija Terpstra of Comanche, TX; seven grandchildren, Rocky (Cherie) Victor, Ryan (Linda) Victor, Randi (Dave) Maher, Wayne (Beverly) Rush, Matt (Katy) Rush, Janie (Clayton) Fryar and Lonnie (Leisha) Bickham; and a sister, Kat Smith of Floyd. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Mark Nall, two sisters, Linnie Borden and Marvene Barrow and by a daughter, Linda Ray Henry who died in 2001.
