Diane (Turner) Turner August 7, 1957 ~ November 8, 2024 (age 67)

Funeral services for Diane Turner, 67, of Portales will be held at 10:30 AM, Wed., Nov. 23, 2024 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Morgan officiating, assisted by Rev. Wesley McAfee.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with the deacons of the church serving as pallbearers.

Delores Diane Turner, known to virtually everyone as Diane, was born Aug. 7, 1957 in Portales to the home of Odena Lois (Feland) and Johnny Lee Turner and died on the evening of Nov. 8, 2024 in Portales.  Diane was a 1975 graduate of Portales High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Education.  She began her teaching career in a small school near Roy, NM.  She later taught in Clayton and Morton, TX, as well as doing a short time as a math teacher at ENMU.

Diane was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church.  She later was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she helped extensively with the church library.  Diane was an ardent student of the Bible, and had not only studied independently, but also had taken several Bible study courses.  She had a very philanthropic nature, and gave very generously to others.  She had very meticulously sorted books from her collection to go to various libraries in New Mexico and Texas.

Diane is survived by her dear friend, Dee Sewell and her husband, Dag of Portales; Fernie and Anita Tapia who had helped her with numerous things; a cousin, Johnny and Barbara Turner of Grapevine, TX; as well as by her entire church family who were literally her family.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and a sister, Mary Ann (Turner) Perales.
