Diane Louise Escalante was born Aug. 30, 1962 in Carlsbad, NM to the home of Cecilia Ann (Raley) and John Roger Bohm, and died Feb. 28, 2022 in Albuquerque, NM.  For the majority of her early life Diane lived in Las Cruces.  Later she lived in Albuquerque and Denver before coming to Portales in 2001.  During those years she had worked in housekeeping at hospitals and in grocery stores as well as for a time at the cheese plant in Clovis.  For most of the years she lived here she had worked as a meat wrapper at Russell’s Super Save and Farmer’s Country Market.

When Diane got off work in the afternoon, she spent the rest of the day taking care of things at her father’s home, mowing, tending to the cows, bottle feeding calves, and whatever else she could find that needed to be done.  Diane was a great cook, and always prepared enormous amounts of food even if there were only a few to eat it.  She was a very selfless person, always tending to the needs of others.  For enjoyment she loved to watch Christmas movies and she was an avid Broncos fan.

She is survived by her four children, Elijah Escalante of Phoenix, AZ, Lucas Escalante and his fiancé, Chantel Campbell of Denver, CO, Rosalinda and Jose Soto of Clovis, NM and Desiree and Anthony Duarte of Madison, WI; twelve grandchildren, Noah and Malachi Escalante, Jonah and Micah Escalante, Kadence Hostert, Saia and Anaia Duarte and Araceli, Alexia, Ameya, Alysia and Amor Soto; one great-grandchild, Azra Soto; her mother and step-father, Cecilia and Bill Trujillo of Meadow Lake, NM; her step-mother, Lori Bohm-Porterfield and husband, Buddy Porterfield of Portales; a brother, Jon and Shawn Bohm of Portales; two sisters, Debbie Dicus of Portales and Kristi and Ben Headley of Albuquerque; and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, John Roger Bohm.
