The Eastern New Mexico University softball team (13-14) has won four of its last five games headed into this week’s home stand against Oklahoma Christian and Lone Star Conference-leader, Angelo State. Last week, the Hounds swept New Mexico Highlands and registered their first-ever series win over Midwestern State.

Live statistics will be provided at GoEasternAthletics.com for all five games. First pitch against Oklahoma Christian is Tuesday at noon. ENMU will host the Rambelles for a LSC doubleheader at noon on Friday, and a single-game on Saturday.

About Eastern New Mexico
Last week, ENMU won four of their five games, with a sweep at NM Highlands and series win over Midwestern State. ENMU ranks fourth in the conference in total runs and slugging percentage. The squad’s .398 on-base percentage is second only to the team record (.414) from the 2006 season.

Susannah Chandler leads ENMU at the plate with a .379 batting average, five homers and 18 runs batted in. Cameron Conrad is right behind at .377 with six doubles. Kaylee Rogers has nine wins and a 3.62 earned run average over 91 innings of work.

Welborn has a 27-56 record and is in her second season at ENMU. Last week she passed Hollie Chadwick and Ron Landschoot to move into fifth place on the ENMU career win list.

In the Series with the Eagles
Eastern is 2-4 against Oklahoma Christian and will be hosting the Eagles for the first time. Early in the season, OCU handed the Hounds a 3-0 defeat with freshman pitcher Kaylee Rogers tossing a complete-game, eight-hitter. Samantha Brockman had two of ENMU’s six hits.

The series began on April 7, 2001, with a 2-0 win by Eastern. The teams split the first four meetings.

About Oklahoma Christian 
The Eagles are on a four-game win streak, which include a victory over Cameron and three over Fort Hays State.

In the Series with the Rambelles
Eastern is 9-47 all-time against Angelo State, although the teams have split the last two meetings. Eastern has six victories at home against the Rambelles. OCU is 6-5 against Lone Star Conference competition this season.

Last season, ENMU received an incredible performance from Kiana Zerr in a 12-9 victory over ASU. The junior pitcher held the Rambelles to eight hits, and bashed a three-run homer in the sixth inning, followed by a grand slam in the seventh. The Hounds withstood a seven-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn the win.

The series began in the 2002 season, with the Hounds winning three of the four meetings.

About Angelo State 
Angelo State boasts an impressive 19-1 record, and the Rambelles enter the week on a 15-game win streak. Prior to the series at ENMU, ASU will host a non-conference doubleheader against St. Mary’s.
