Obituary
Funeral services for Devany Brunk, 31, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tues., Jan. 5, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Portales with Rev. Dustin Burrows officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that attendance be limited to family and close friends, as per the Governor’s orders seating is limited to 75. Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Devany Lashea Brunk was born Sept. 16, 1989 in Portsmouth, VA to the home of Cynthia “Cindy” (Teel) and Mark Stone, and passed from this life on Dec. 24, 2020 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Most of her life has been spent in Portales. She was a 2007 graduate of Portales High School, and had been attending Eastern New Mexico University to become a Special Education Teacher. She was currently employed in the Special Ed classes at Portales Junior High School. She had a deep passion for the students, and loved them and they in turn loved her.
Devany enjoyed all sorts of crafts and art projects, from painting to crocheting, along with a variety of other craft projects. She loved animals, and currently had dogs and cats and fish. Devany loved playing board games, and she had over one hundred games that she enjoyed playing with family and friends. She loved to cook, especially anything pertaining to pasta dishes. Devany brought life and love and laughter to every life she touched. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
On Oct. 3, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Portales, she was married to Jonathan Brunk. She is survived by her husband of their home; her parents, Cindy and Mark Stone of Roswell, and a sister, Miranda Stone of Tennessee.
